Direct Support Professional Week ![]() SPIN Celebrates Direct Support Professional Week at The Norcom Community Center September 9-15, 2012 is National Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. This is an opportunity SPIN takes to honor our direct support workforce and the tremendous difference they make each day in the lives of the individuals we support. On Monday a kickoff event was held at the Norcom Community Center, where many people spoke about the importance of DSPs and the fabulous work they do every day. Among the speakers from SPIN were Kathy Brown McHale, President and CEO, Judy Dotzman, Executive Director, and Joanne Leonard, Board Trustee. SPIN was also pleased to have our partners in the legislature make the time to attend our event and thank our Direct Support Professionals for all the hard work they do to make a difference in people’s lives. We are thankful to State Representative, Gene DiGirolamo, Chief of Staff Daniel Lodise, from State Representative Brendan Boyle's Office and Chief of Staff Seth Kaplan from State Representative Kevin Boyle for taking the time out of their busy schedules to be a part of such an event. A "video note of thanks" was also shown, with messages from many other people throughout the organization. Events continue to take place throughout the week and thank you notes were sent to all SPIN DSPs. Kathy Brown McHale also prepared a video message which again thanks SPIN’s DSPs. This video was posted on SPIN’s portal and is also available on our website. As a final gesture all SPIN’s managers and administrators are wearing green ribbons to show their support for our DSPs. If you see a DSP, please be sure to take a moment to thank them.
